Telomere Length Measurement for Human Skin Tissues

The skin is the largest organ in the body. Skin aging involves multiple complex factors. The telomere length of cells is known to be a common risk factor for aging and age-related diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the relevance of telomere length skin aging and diseases such as skin cancer.

Telomere Length Measurement for Human Skin Tissues

CD BioSciences provides telomere length measurement services for human epidermal or dermal cell samples, which help to explore the correlation between telomere length and skin aging. The measurement results provide a reference for future clinical practice.

Telomere Length Variation in the Skin Tissues

As telomeres shorten, the regenerative capacity of skin cells declines, leading to slower wound healing and reduced resilience to environmental stressors. This can manifest as wrinkles, thinning of the skin, and decreased elasticity associated with aging. Additionally, shortened telomeres in skin cells have been linked to various age-related skin disorders, such as atrophic skin, and an increased risk of skin cancers.

Sample Requirements

We accept skin samples from clients and can process them for analysis. The provided skin tissue samples would need to be of high integrity and purity, free from contaminants or degradation that could compromise the accuracy of the telomere length measurements.

  • Process skin tissue samples. Digest overnight at 4°C with collagenase to separate epidermis and dermis, then store at -80°C.
  • Prepare DNA samples. If requested, each sample needs to be processed for genomic DNA preparation, either with nucleic acid extraction kits or phenol/chloroform/isopentyl alcohol, etc. The degradation of DNA is checked by gel electrophoresis.
  • Samples delivery. Samples must be collected immediately and sent to us after collection according to shipping conditions.

Our Services of Skin Tissue Telomere Length Measurements

Based on our various telomere length measurement methods, our clients can obtain a relatively low-cost testing service suitable for high throughput. We offer a range of methods for telomere length detection in skin tissues, such as terminal restriction fragment (TRF), quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques. We measure the relative telomere length, average telomere length, and telomere distribution, and more in triplicate for each sample.

Our Excellent Telomere Length Measurement Quality Control

Our clients will work with us to select services for telomere length measurement of skin samples without considering issues related to sample shipping, sample quality, test quality, etc. We will discuss and detail with you the various validation studies used in the assay to ensure accuracy.

  • We give detailed descriptions of the control samples evaluated in each lot of the telomere length assay.
  • We can select the assay according to the samples for good reproducibility.
  • We have extensive experience in performing telomere length measurement services.
