Telomerase Activity Assay Services

Telomerase is an RNA-protein complex; its main components are an RNA matrix for telomere synthesis (TERC), which also has a structural function, and reverse transcriptase (TERT). It plays a pivotal role in maintaining telomere length and cellular immortality. As the understanding of telomerase continues to expand, the development and application of telomerase activity assays have become increasingly important in aging research.

At CD BioSciences, we take pride in our ability to offer high-quality services for telomerase activity assays in aging studies. Our focus on quality, precision, and innovation sets us apart in the field.

Sample Requirements

By adhering to stringent sample requirements and protocols, CD BioSciences ensures that clients receive accurate and reliable results in their telomerase activity assays, thereby contributing to the advancement of aging research and related studies.

  • Sample types
Our telomerase activity assay services support the major sample types of cultured cells, tissue biopsies, and body fluids. Each sample type requires a specific protocol based on its characteristics.
  • Sample handling
We emphasize maintaining the integrity of biomaterials and achieve this through temperature control, protection against degradation factors, and suitable storage media.

Our Methods for Telomerase Activity Assays

CD BioSciences employs advanced methods for telomerase activity assays, driving precise and reproducible results for our clients. One of our key methodologies involves the telomere repeat amplification protocol (TRAP), a widely used technique that enables the detection and quantification of telomerase activity in various sample types. This approach, combined with advanced instrumentation and skilled technical expertise, allows us to offer a robust and detailed analysis of telomerase activity in aging studies.

Methods Telomerase Activity Assays
TRAP combined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) We use TRAP for amplifying telomeric repeats, followed by the application of ELISA for the quantification of telomerase activity. Our method detects and measures the amplification products to provide a quantitative assessment of telomerase activity in the sample.
TRAP with electrochemical detection We use electrochemical detection together with TRAP to accurately and specifically measure telomerase activity. Our method involves measuring the extension products generated by telomerase using electrochemical techniques. This allows us to determine telomerase activity levels in the sample with precision.
TRAP with real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Our method that combines TRAP with real-time PCR enables the real-time monitoring and quantification of amplified telomeric repeat sequences. As a result, we can assess telomerase activity dynamically and accurately.

Applications of Telomerase Activity Assays in Aging Research

  • Investigating age-related diseases
Our telomerase activity assays contribute to the exploration of age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and certain cancers. Assessing telomerase activity levels in disease-specific tissue samples can provide valuable information about the role of telomerase in disease progression and potential therapeutic interventions.
  • Biomarker discovery
Our assessment of telomerase activity holds promise for identifying biomarkers of aging and age-related diseases. By correlating telomerase activity with clinical parameters, our clients can potentially uncover novel biomarkers that aid in diagnosing age-related conditions and monitoring disease progression.
  • Therapeutic interventions
Our study of telomerase activity in the context of aging research facilitates the exploration of potential therapeutic interventions aimed at modulating telomerase function. This includes investigating the effects of telomerase activators or inhibitors on cellular aging and age-related pathologies, offering insights into the development of targeted therapies.

The assessment of telomerase activity through robust assays is integral to advancing our understanding of aging processes and associated pathologies.
