Antioxidant Skincare R&D Services

Antioxidants play a pivotal role in skincare by neutralizing free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can cause oxidative stress, leading to premature aging, inflammation, and various skin conditions. Common environmental stressors such as UV radiation, pollution, and lifestyle factors further exacerbate free radical production, making antioxidant protection critical for maintaining youthful and healthy skin. Studies have shown that the regular use of antioxidant-rich products can lead to visible improvements in skin texture and tone, and protect against skin aging.

CD BioSciences offers antioxidant skincare R&D services. We support ingredient selection, formulation optimization, and functional evaluation to advance the development of antioxidant skincare products targeting skin aging.

Overview of Our Antioxidant Skincare R&D Services

Identification of antioxidant actives for anti-aging skincare

CD BioSciences supports the identification of antioxidant actives as key functional ingredients in anti-aging skincare formulations. Our experts have a comprehensive understanding of potent antioxidants for anti-aging purposes, detailing their properties, efficacy, stability, and compatibility with different formulations. Commonly studied antioxidant actives include vitamin C and its derivatives, niacinamide, vitamin E, ferulic acid, and polyphenol-based ingredients. We help identify antioxidants that are suitable for addressing skin aging concerns and compatible with cosmetic formulation requirements.

Formulation development services

CD BioSciences provides formulation development services to support the design and optimization of antioxidant skincare products. Our services focus on exploring combinations of active ingredients, including antioxidants, and formulating them into serums, creams, and gels with desirable textures and finishes. We apply advanced techniques such as microencapsulation to enhance the stability and delivery of antioxidant ingredients within formulations. Our team helps clients evaluate formulation options, considering both ingredient compatibility and product sensory characteristics, to support the development of products intended for aging and sensitive skin.

Evaluation of Antioxidant and Anti-Aging Efficacy of Skincare

Oxidative stress is a key contributor to skin aging, accelerating collagen degradation, elastin loss, and the formation of wrinkles, fine lines, and pigmentation. Evaluating both the antioxidant activity and anti-aging effects of skincare formulations is essential in supporting product development targeting age-related skin concerns.

Our biochemical assays, including DPPH, ABTS, ORAC, and FRAP, quantify the ability of formulations to neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress. In addition, we employ cell-based assays using UV- or chemically-induced human dermal fibroblasts and keratinocytes to assess protective effects on cellular health, including reduction of intracellular ROS levels, preservation of mitochondrial function, and mitigation of premature cellular senescence. We also customize 3D reconstructed human skin equivalents and ex vivo human skin explants to evaluate the effects of formulations on key anti-aging endpoints, such as collagen and elastin integrity and MMP expression. Our integrated approaches provide insights into how antioxidant skincare formulations may support the maintenance of youthful skin properties, combining antioxidant activity with functional anti-aging evaluation.

CD BioSciences is dedicated to providing innovative and scientifically backed antioxidant skincare R&D services. Through our extensive ingredient selection, strategic formulation development, and efficacy evaluation services, we empower our clients to develop effective skincare products that cater to the growing demand for anti-aging skincare. If you are interested in our services, please feel free to contact us or make an online inquiry.
